You may have heard about the “VPNFilter” virus going around infecting many popular routers. It has affected more than 500,000 devices, but luckily the government is taking action to limit it’s impact. The recent advice to reboot your router WILL help, but if you were infected more than a few days ago, hackers may still be able to take control of your router. Doing a factory reset is the only way to be safe. This video goes over what the malware is, steps you should take to prevent it, and remove it, and even if your router is at risk in the first place.

This is just anti-Russian propaganda pushed by the US Government to fulfill their agenda in imposing unnecessary sanctions on other countries. The US will stop at nothing to blame Russia whenever one thing doesn't go their way, or when something bad happens.

If it embeds in the firmware, won't you have to flash it again?

So here’s something you need to address: have manufacturers been actively updating router firmware for these models and if so, have they been releasing them? Some routers haven’t seen updates in…a long long time it seems. Every blue moon I manually check mine and it always claims that there’s nothing new in the mail and I forget about it for awhile again.
