If you want to prevent fog from building up on a mirror or glass surface use a bar of soap. Cover the surface with soap by scraping the bar of soap like you would use a crayon to color on paper. Once the surface is covered, use a dry towel to polish the soap off the glass. This is an old hack that scuba divers use to prevent condensation build up in their masks and goggles and it works very well for automobile windows and bathroom mirrors.
