Best of Marty Crane

At 77 years young, actor John Mahoney passed away today. Frasier is one of my favorite shows, thanks in part to its cast (including John Mahoney as Frasier’s dad, Martin Crane). His performances in Coen Bros films Hudsucker Proxy and Barton Fink weren’t meaty, however, John made them stand out. He did the same with Martin Crane, turning out an impressive arc over the course of 11 seasons. As a widowed, handicapped, curmudgeonly ex-cop father of two elitist psychiatrists, Martin, with his trusty cane and his Ballantine, wisecracked his way into our hearts. These are just some of the amazing moments I could think of, featuring one of the best TV dads (I obviously don’t own the rights to these clips, i found them on YouTube!) — With all these old shows coming back, I can’t imagine a Frasier reunion without him. Enjoy the view and lemme know in the comments about the great scenes I missed 😛

"That is pretty much what I figured" is one of my favourite scenes. Frasier and Niles slowly inching in is absolutely hilarious.

Hi, can anyone tell me the episode where Frasier tries to set his dad up on a date but it doesn't work and at the end Martin says that his wife was his only true love and is irreplaceable.

I confess I'm not a big watcher of Frasier the series but I saw this episode and it was heart-wrenching.

    Thanks.

Marty is the one who makes me laugh out loud the most. Well….Him and Niles. XD It's a shame you didn't put in the clip where Marty's talking about the children's book about Eddie. "He invents a flying machine and he has all these wacky adventures!" chicken impression "Eddie would never do that. You really don't get Eddie, do ya?" XD

  33. Justin Taylor February 11, 2018 at 10:24 am

I would like to know why a thumbs down? I don't expect a positive response from everyone, but why a negative one? Editing? Thievery? Not a fan of the show? Just keep moving then. Or maybe voice your opinion of what's missing. And thank you to all the rest of you! Glad others out there care as much as me. Guess there won't be a reunion after all
    😞

  43. R Stevens February 11, 2018 at 10:24 am

Thank you Dad, for being my favorite TV dad, for showing us what a good guy should be, for keeping Frasier and Niles in line, for showing Roz what a good man should be, for letting Daphne taking great care of you for 11 straight. Now Eddie awaits you up at Rainbow Bridge, so you both can cross together to the other side, sitting in that ugly but comfy barcalounger, drinking Ballantines, swapping jokes with Duke, and watching TV without any glare. R.I.P. Martin Crane, and R.I.P. John Mahoney.
