NASA was inaugurated to undertake massive space explorations some 68 years ago. During this time, it has undertaken massive experiments and accomplished many missions. Here are some of the craziest NASA discoveries during the exploratory assignments.

  1. Earth-like World with Twin Stars

In space, stars could represent actual stars, planets, brown dwarf, galaxies as well as asteroids. A star known by code OGLE-2013-BLG-034LBb was discovered by NASA. It has twin stars and circulates a red dwarf. Though it is presumed to be too cold, NASA hopes to establish whether the characteristics it possesses could support life.

  1. Evidence of Alien Life in Saturn’s Moon

NASA believes they have the tale tell signs of alien existence on Saturn. Titan, the only moon around Saturn, supports life utilizing its atmospheric air and feeding on its surface’s hydrogen fuel. This is similar to fungi life on earth.

  1. New beautiful Nebula.

A new image has been beamed to out earth. It is referred to as Lagoon Nebula. Using the Hubble space telescope, NASA is able to show vivid images of a bright hot gas cloud. It is found within the Sagittarius constellation. The calm cloud indicated is actually smouldering churning gas with very high temperature.

  1. Extraterrestrial Neutrinos in the South Pole

south pole

NASA Physicists, using the unique INO observatory, has found the existence of cosmic rays from outer space. This energy comes from outside our solar system.  The rays contain subatomic particles.  Using powerful instrument known as Ice Cube Neutrino, scientists are able to figure the occurrence of neutrinos. They offer an important hindsight into the evolution of the solar system.

  1. Earth-like planet outside the Solar system

Using high definition space telescope, NASA has been able to scout the space with more power. The Spitzner telescope usage has been successful. It has revealed the existence of a planet code named HD 219134B. It is a rocky planet. However, with a distance of about 21 light-years away, reaching it is a challenge in near future.

However, studying it will shed more information on how our earth began.

  1. Comet Landing.

solar landing

NASA sent out a spacecraft to probe the comets. After travelling for over 12 years and covering about 6 billion kilometre, it finally landed on a comet. The Philae’s landing was bumpy leading to data relay breakdown for several weeks. Its solar-powered communication gadget finally relayed samples which are enriching the scientific community advance their understanding of the comets.

  1. Habitable Planet

NASA scientist has discovered a planet similar to earth in size. It is named Kepler 78b. With a mass almost twice that of the earth, it is considered to harbour a similar conditions that prevail on earth. It has a sun which it revolutes once every 9 hours. However, addition research is still needed to unveil the details it keeps.

  1. Every star has a planet.

Every star possesses planets. This 2014 NASA discovery is astounding. It established that every dwarf has a planet. With dwarf accounting for over 70% of the 100 billion stars in the galaxy, here are many planets out there.

  1. Hand of God.

hand of god

NASA has received beams through its high definition Chandra observatory. This space observation orbiting 360 miles above Earth. This telescope has captured fragments of exploded stars. Christened the Hand of God, it appears to have stretched out fingers. This formation of a spinning neutron star is understood in scientific circles as a pulsar.

  1. Mars supported ancient life.

NASA’s probe into the Mars has transmitted details data for research. The Curiosity Rover has profiled biosphere samples containing chemotropic microorganism. These microorganisms only thrived where water is. As such, there is evidence that Mars actually had water. Preliminary geophysical probing has also brought out samples of frozen underground lakes.

The best news is that human settlement in this planet is a near time reality.
