From Wikipedia:
A labradoodle is a crossbreed dog created by crossing the Labrador Retriever and the Standard, Miniature or Toy Poodle. The term first appeared in 1955, but was not popularized until 1988, when the mix began to be used as a hypoallergenic guide dog. Currently, they are not considered a breed by any major fancier and breeder organization. Not all Labradoodles are hypoallergenic, but it is a quality that many look for and appreciate in this type of crossbreed.

The labradoodle became known in 1988, when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at the Royal Guide Dogs Associations of Australia in Victoria.

Conron’s aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the poodle with the gentleness and trainability of a Labrador retriever, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander.[2][3] Sultan, a dog from this litter, displayed all the qualities Conron was seeking and worked as a guide dog for a woman in Hawaii for ten years.[2]

Labradoodle sizes The Standard Labradoodle should be 22 to 24 inches in height for a male and 21 to 23 inches in height for a female, while both can range in weight from 50 to 65 pounds. The Medium Labradoodle should be 18 to 20 inches high for a male and 17 to 19 inches high for a female, with both weighing from 30 to 45 pounds.

No comment that most Labradoodles are 3/4 or more poodle? What I have seen when it comes to people with Labradoodles are people who want a poodle without the poodle cut. When it comes to poodles, you do NOT need to do the cut you see on most poodles. Those cuts are done by people who want to want that pool. People with Standard poodles who do NOT do those cuts are often mistaken for Labradoodles, I have had to correct a lot of people when I am walking my Standard Poodle. Standard Poodles are a real breed, Poodles give birth to poodles. Labradoodles are a product of a poodle and a Lab or other dog. Thus a
'Hybrid" not a breed. There are not even a "Type" of dog. "Type" is an old term for dogs breed for certain things, but no blood lines were kept. Most dogs and horses started out as "Types" that later became Breeds as people started to keep blood lines. I b

My labradoodle is alot smarter than my cavachon and my late Labrador

  8. E Smith January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

How about the fact that until they breed true; they are mutts. Or the so called β€œhybrid vigor” is a lie. You could easily get the health problems of both the golden and the poodle in one dog. And the thing about genetics is a little misleading breeders breed for a size. A standard poodle will never have a toy. And a toy will never have a standard they are totally different.

I don't know where you are getting your information in regard to their temperament and behavior. All untrue.

  10. The Canine Nutritionist January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

I'm thinking of getting a Labradoodle as my next dog. I would name him Gus. I would want one that is pure black. They are so friendly. They are so smart. I love the breed.

  11. Dawn Cooper January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

We have a Labradoodle puppy right now and we used to have this really old Labrador cross Staffy. The old dog kind of β€œattacked” the puppy which lead to her having this lump on one side of her month (it’s getting better). The old dog kind of enjoyed her company so what did that mean?

  15. Cogan Family January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

  20. Ayla Hanson January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

I have a wonderful Labradoodle, Nick!! He’s my diabetic alert service dog. He is the sweetest and most reliable dog. But…Labradoodles were NOT the pioneer designer dog, that would be the Cockapoo! Which i also have, Jacks, he was my first service dog! Cockapoos were introduced in the 1950’s, THE ORIGINAL designer dog!!

Miniature doodle squad where u at

  33. ThisbeandPyramus January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

I find it odd that people think Labradoodles are attractive. Also, aren't there a gazillion largish hairy breeds already? Portuguese Water Dog, Bearded Collie, OES, Barbet, Bouvier, Komondor, Briard, Bergamasco, PONS, Tibetan Terrier, Wheaten Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, the list goes on. I guess it's PURELY the fact that people SEE so much stuff with the Labaradoodle (i.e. publicity).

People (of course) can like what they like but I personally hate hair on a muzzle and would never have a breed with that trait. Food and water stuck on it, repulse me.

  34. Sherril Russell January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

I have an amazing Labradoodle named Penelope! She is 9 yrs.old and is a real sweetie! Labradoodle is a loving breed with An awesome personality and temperament! They a very social and a bunch of fun!!!

  35. Hkon Hkon January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

Labradoodle’s are awsome! Although ours are as black as the night, and are much more labrador than poodle, and it is a king/big poodle ? (Could not find a translate from norwegian)

  36. M Josephine Fonzo January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND ONE FOR MY NEXT ADA SERVICE DOG BUT IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE BREEDERS WANT SO MUCH FOR WHAT IS REALLY, ACCORDING TO VETS TO BE A MUTT.

  37. HayhayKj January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

We have a red labradoodle.Β  He gets his third set of shots tomorrow and after that will be ready to go more places, including puppy classes.Β  He loves people, and has already learnedΒ three new tricks.Β  We are excited to have him and can't wait until he settles into adulthood.

  44. Lexie Leverton January 14, 2019 at 4:16 am

Thanks for this fun video ! We rescued our chocolate labradoodle from a puppy mill when he was 3 months old.. It was a huge adjustment for him .. But now that he has been shown love and taught the proper way he is an amazing dog ! Potty trained at 6 months! πŸ™Œ they are amazing dogs and deserve a place on the official breeds list
