Facts about planet Earth’s five major oceans. The beach and the ocean draws me in so I thought this would be a cool topic to discuss, and there’s a lot more that we don’t know, waiting to be explored…

I'll drop a mind-blowing fact on y'all about the Pacific Ocean: it's the largest battlefield man has ever fought on (WW2) and for a few months, the USS Enterprise (aircraft carrier, real ship, not Star Trek) was the only US Carrier still fighting. She had a banner that read "Enterprise vs Japan" under the flight deck which was an extremely bold statement given the circumstances. The average crew member age was 19, and she's the highest decorated ship ever to have sailed in the US Navy. The Pacific is the final resting place for many soldiers, sailors, ships, planes, etc. The oceans are magnificent and breathtaking one moment, but cold and harsh the next. Treat her with respect and she'll move mountains to help you safely navigate. Treat her with an ounce of disrespect that she doesn't deserve and she'll make sure you never leave her.

Wonderful video! Just wanted to mention that seawater is just barely basic, but isn’t in danger of becoming acidic anytime soon. Ocean acidification is really the ocean becoming less basic. This is really bad for marine life (especially shelled animals, because calcium carbonate is weakened by improper pH, but ofc animals with shells having decreased population will ripple up the food web).
Edit 1) Also, the first life was cyanobacteria, which converted the abundant CO2 in the atmosphere into oxygen. Then, single-celled organisms evolved which used oxygen and produced carbon dioxide. Multi-cellular organisms (even the simplest plants and animals) took a long time to evolve.
Edit 2) Blue light’s short wavelength is what makes it travel the furthest in air and water, and what gives them their distinctive colors. One “hump” of the sinusoid wave is just the right size to go around one molecule of H2O (not sure about the atmosphere but same concept). You’re right about things that look red on the surface looking black deep underwater— many deep creatures are red so that they appear black at the depths they exist!
Edit 3) Deep sea vents emit warm chemicals which certain creatures (like vent worms) feed on— they’re called chemotrophs. However, these vents aren’t the foundation of the food web down there— it’s more the things which drop down to the sea floor and decompose which are the main source of energy for the bottom of the food web down at the lower levels. Of course, there are bigger creatures down there too that eat the smaller scavengers and decomposers.
Edit 4) wow I’ve added a lot! Still loving the video haha 🙂 so relaxing. The reason lightning strikes dry land more is that the elevation is obviously much higher on dry land, and lightning tends to strike tall things. Also, I think storms tend to form where there’s land to change the weather patterns? Not sure, but I think there are less thunderstorms out in the middle of the pacific
Edit 5) tony! Wait a minute! There IS something wrong with flat-earth!! It’s a complete denial of science! It’s not “just a belief system”. All of our knowledge of the earth, the ocean, etc is based off of the observation that it’s a SPHERE.
