I am not trying to be an ass, but as some constructive criticism, in the future, it would be better if you filmed in landscape.

Thanks a lot. I had no idea how in depth the feeding was. I knew some importance with it but not this much. Thank you for educating us!

Something else that most snake owners don't realize is after a large meal snakes will go soak in cool water to stop their regurge reflex !! I personally prefer feeding smaller prey more than one feeder per meal rather than larger feeders because smaller feeeders certainly puts a lot less stress on the snakes digestive systems 🙂

Great information and I absolutely agree that frozen thawed do make it easier to break down the feeders before the snake eats it not to mention freezing the rodents kills off any bacteria or parasites that the rodent may be carrying and greatly helps prevent the spread of the virus from the infected rodents to the snakes that contributes to IBD !!

Part of the reason not to handle during digestion is also due to why digestion is so taxing on snakes, and part of the whole bloatation ordeal. Their entire GI tract elongates and the microvilli in the gut become more plentiful/engorged in order to pull all possible nutrients from a meal, and this process is very heavy on them metabollically speaking. Digestion in snakes is also NOT a primary function for them. The moment something more important starts to happen, digestion comes to a standstill so that the energy can be directed towards muscular processes and respirating and whatnot. This is also why snakes are so notoriously good at hunger striking. They do not necessarily feel hunger the same way we do if something else is wrong with them, and will actually be dissuaded from eating because they sense that something more urgent is happening (breeding, illness, etc.).

Fun video, ty for it! Always good to remind people to leave their scalies alone while digesting!
