One would expect Taylor Swift to dress like Taylor Swift to receive the Taylor Swift award — but that wasn’t the case. On Tuesday night in Beverly Hills, the singer received the first-ever eponymous honor from Broadcast Music, Inc. To accept the accolade, the second one named after a human (the first being Michael Jackson), the 26-year-old wore an edgy dress from Monique Lhullier.
Continuing her grunge streak, one seemingly mandated by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, the 1989 artist opted for a floor-length slip dress. Made in an animal-inspired pattern in shades of green and blue and velvet fabric (it was 80 degrees in the Los Angeles area). Swift paired the dress, featuring spaghetti straps, with a choker, which she recently declared “the new flower crowns” when her “family” (otherwise known as the new #squad) all wore them during Coachella.
The Blank Space baby probably seemed most unlike herself because of her lack of “signature” beauty looks. For the occasion, and switched up her lip color from a bright red to a light pink. Additionally, her hair’s currently dyed platinum blonde as opposed to its typical shade.
From country princess to Nirvana fan (with Jackie Kennedy and crop top obsessive in between), Swift’s had a lot of fashion phases. So what’s next?
