This Artist Brilliantly Reuses Old Computer Circuit Boards to Create Insect Sculptures

In her art series, "Computer Component Bugs," Chappell takes old circuit board parts, and makes them into colorful insects.

No two creations of hers are the same. Each possesses its own unique vibrancy.

Aside from the wings, which Chappell also makes herself, each piece of each insect was once a circuit board component.

The artist says that her inspiration for her unique and beautiful art came from when she first observed a computer's internal circuitry…

Stating that its infrastructure, design, and colors reminded her of nature.

“With all their tiny components, complex circuitry and bright metallic colours I cannot help but compare them to the detailed patterns we see when we look at nature up close…"

“I view the miniature circuit boards with the same curiosity and amazement as I view the natural world.“

And after seeing how perfectly integrated the two are in her work, it's certainly hard to disagree with her.
