This stunning black flamingo was spotted at the Akrotiri Environmental Centre in Cyprus, just hangin' around in a salt lake, socializing with the more traditional flamingos.

It’s not the first time there have been reports of a black flamingo—people mentioned seeing one in Israel in 2014—but it’s extremely rare nonetheless, and many believe that this could actually be the very same black flamingo as that which appeared in Israel.

Environmentalists have speculated that the flamingo's coloring is a result in melanism, which is when the bird's body produces more melanin than normal and results in a darker color. We think it's pretty beautiful!
