In the book “Thinner” King tells a racist joke. It adds nothing to the story and could be easily left out. King is a racist King needs to make a public apology.

The shinning is an excellent movie. However, it's not in tandem with the book so I can dig where where Mr. King is coming from.

  22. Trend Laser July 22, 2019 at 1:18 am

Too bad he's got a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. King is stupid. Kubrick's The Shining is the best film of any of his novels.

  26. parKb5 July 22, 2019 at 1:18 am

Obviously King didn’t like Kubrick’s The Shining because, as you stated, Jack Torrance was based on King, himself. King viewed him as a tragic figure whereas Kubrick made Jack an obvious villain.

The thing that happened with that guy finding out Richard Bachman was a pseudonym is similar to something that happened to me. One day I was browsing through books at my school's library and one called 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill caught my eye. I felt like it was calling to me for some reason; I looked at a few other books but I kept going back to Ghosts. I read the first short story in the book and immediately started Googling. The writing style was eerily similar to Stephen King's. Too similar. I figured King was using a new pseudonym for some odd reason. But it was, in fact, one of his sons, Joe Hillstrom King. Hill's writing style is just as creative and wild as King in his early days (think Firestarter and The Shining), but with the added attention to detail and articulate finesse of his mom, Tabitha's, writing style. Basically, it is great and instantly recognizable. Seriously, if you are a Stephen King fan, go read one of Joe Hill's books when you get the chance. N0S4A2 (Nosferatu) is my favorite, but people say The Fireman is the best.

I’m a diehard King fan. He may not be a word guru… but the man can tell a campfire story!!! Love King!! He got me to put down the PS controller and read a book! Something most of future generations will miss…

Stephen King is my literal favorite person (outside of my family). I started reading his books when I was 12. I was suicidal at the time (I was going to overdose on my dad's Oxycontin because I didn't want to leave a mess). Reading The Shining basically saved my life. King's wit and down to earth personality made me feel like I mattered, like maybe someone would care about what I had to offer the world. I don't believe in idolizing people (because none of us are perfect), but Steve is someone I would call a hero. I probably wouldn't be here today without him. I am 24 now and I plan to be in Congress one day because I want to create change in the best way I know how (and that is talking my head off). I want to be the kind of person who can give others something to believe in. As far as my favorite King story, it isn't a "story" at all – it is On Writing. As weird as it probably sounds, it isn't the books I love, it is that little piece of himself he puts into each one; that is where the magic lies. It is what sets Steve apart from many other writers; he has heart and he isn't afraid to give some of it away to each of his ever constant readers. His actual writing style is pretty amazing too, though.

Speakong from experience, publishers typically do not buy your books to publish them. Unless you have an agent, you have to have thousands of dollars just for a publisher to publish your book.

Also, why is it hilarious that Stephen King told JRR Martin that he typically likes to write six pages a day? I don't get it. What's the joke?

I’ve been to Maine, and by that, I literally mean I live there. It’s so cool living in the same state as this legend. Especially when you get to watch Stephen king movies in Bangor, which is where he lives. Such a cool experience
