While the cast of Fuller House is looking forward to the future — Netflix has already ordered a second season — Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner-Fuller) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) agreed to relive their fashion past when they visited Yahoo TV. We showed them a collection of their memorable ensembles from the original series, which aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995, and asked them to provide commentary.

What we learned: Janet Jackson inspired a lot of D.J.’s wardrobe, which made Cameron Bure happy. Barber, however, did a lot of vetoing of Kimmy’s risque wardrobe, which made her feel comfortable. “At the end of the season, they’d be like, ‘Do you want to take any of the wardrobe home?’ And I’d be like, ‘….No thanks,’” Barber says.

We did manage to find one Kimmy look that both ladies approve of (hint: first day of junior high), and, even better, you have to hear the two old friends squeal when they’re shown a still from the scene in which Kimmy is wearing “confusing” layers as she comforts D.J. after her mountainside break-up with Steve (Scott Weinger). “That was the saddest breakup in the history of TV,” Barber says. “It was so sad, but it was time.”
