In the 1950s Sally Hansen, along with her chemist husband, perfected a nail protection formula called Hard As Nails. That has always been the only information the number one nail polish brand in the world has provided about its namesake. There were never any photos of Hansen which led many to believe she was a fabricated character. But recently a team of investigative journalists uncovered Hansen’s story. In 1946 she split from her second husband, Adolph Hansen, and lived the rest of her life as Sally Newton until her death from lung cancer in 1963. Now that her story has been uncovered the brand is launching a new ad campaign with her image and her actual signature will be used as the brand’s logo.
