DIY Hacks & How To’s: Swiss Army Key Ring

Most people have to keep track of at least a few keys. The easiest way to do that is to just keep them all on one key ring. But the more keys that you have, the more they fan out on the ring. If you have a lot of keys, then your key ring can get pretty bulky and impractical to carry in your pocket. Here is an alternate design for holding and organizing your keys that is a little more efficient.

The design of this key holder is very similar in construction to a Swiss Army Knife. The keys are arranged on two parallel bars. Each key can be rotated into the handle for compact storage and rotated back out for use.

How do you prevent constant usage from unscrewing the nuts? Would you suggest epoxy-gluing the nuts on to the screws?

  23. DevilMaskMedia September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

You might want to stain, and poly the wood before you put it all together. Less chance you end up with sticky keys.

  24. Cameron Kraus September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

Would the TSA consider this a concealed weapon? Because that would suck to loose all your keys!

  26. Ketalon Gear September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

Very cool! Neat little Sunday afternoon project.

Also, we make 'em out of tough, lightweight reinforced polymer. Our Keyn pocket keyholder is currently on sale at TouchofModern.com : https://www.touchofmodern.com/sales/ketalon/keyn-key-holder

Come say hey at Ketalon.com – we'd love to know what you think!

  27. steven lang September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

Good Job – if you did not know – use binder screw / nuts – work great and the keys are not riding on threads of a screw. Just a suggestion – but there is nothing like home made!

after watching this I was inspired to make a switch-blade key… best invention ever

  37. Jordan Riddle September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

They already make these that are full metal. They are a little more expensive than I'm sure this one would be(around $20 for the base model), but they're also incredibly durable. I've had one for a while now.
That said, I still love the video.

  38. pokepokefanfan September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am

on tv i saw something similar, but its black and you have to mod the keys a littlee to put them in the thing, i don't remember whhat is call. but i'm sure it was expensive

  39. Lighter 007 September 27, 2017 at 5:57 am
